Diamond spinners
What is a diamond spinner, and why do you need one?

A diamond spinner (also called a diamond wheel dresser) is a compact, diamond-coated tool that shapes the flat face of a grinding wheel into a precise concave profile, known as the Radius of Hollow (ROH), or into a special profile. The spinner doesn't sharpen the skate itself. It shapes the wheel that sharpens the blade.A diamond spinner does two essential jobs:
- It forms the profile. The spinner's shape transfers to the grinding wheel and then to the hollow on the skate blade. Without a precise spinner, a consistent radius of hollow is impossible to achieve.
- It keeps your grinding wheel in top condition. Wheels wear down and become uneven over time. Regular dressing with a spinner flattens the wheel surface and exposes fresh abrasive, keeping your grinding pattern clean and the blade edges even from one sharpening to the next.
Parduc® uses industrial-grade diamond, the hardest material available, to create a precise, durable tool built to last through countless sharpenings.
- Professional-grade precision: Shape your grinding wheel to exactly the radius you want.
- Built to last: Industrial-grade diamond stands up to long-term, heavy use.
- Versatile compatibility: Fits Parduc® sharpening machines and Blackstone machines (as an aftermarket part, not an original Blackstone spare part).
- Wide selection: Multiple radii, a flat profile, plus elliptical and combination profiles.
- Genuine Parduc® part: Designed for professional sharpeners worldwide.
How to choose the right radius of hollow - Smaller R-value = deeper hollow = more grip (bite).
- Larger R-value = shallower hollow = more glide.
Values in the ##/## format (e.g., 88/50) are designed for special profiles such as the popular Flat Bottom (FB). They let you fine-tune the balance between grip and glide even more precisely.

Elliptical and combination profiles (fb and special hollows)
Available profiles: 80, 85, 88, 90, 92, 95 and 100, each in three versions: /50, /75 and /1.
The first number represents the width, while the second number represents the depth of hollow.
- 80/ and 85/: Forward-leaning, agile profiles
- 88/: Popular figure skating profile
- 90/ and 92/: For hockey and fast skating
- 95/ and 100/: Long-glide profiles for stability and endurance

Frequently Asked Questions
A tool used to shape a sharpening machine's grinding wheel to the desired radius of hollow and to true the wheel flat.
What's the difference between a spinner and a grinding wheel?
The grinding wheel sharpens the skate blade. The spinner shapes and dresses the grinding wheel so the hollow and blade edges come out right.
Which R-value is best for hockey skates?
Common choices are R12, R14.3 and R19. A smaller value gives more grip, a larger value more glide. The best choice depends on the player, position and personal preference.
Do Parduc® diamond spinners fit Blackstone machines?
Yes, as an aftermarket part. It is not an original Blackstone spare part.
What does 80, 85, 88, 90, 92, 95 and 100 mean?
They indicate the width of the FB profile. The higher the first number, the wider the Flat Bottom profile.
What does /50, /75 and /1 mean?
They indicate the profile depth of specialized grooves, such as Flat Bottom (FB) sharpening, helping to fine-tune the optimal balance between grip and glide.
